The tale of two paths
But one remained untrod
The other commonly wrought
so I went along.
But none spoke of the path in between,
When you decide to switch sides
The thickets of change that test your very resolve
Questioning your resolution
Mocking your steps and sneering at your strain
See, this body I reside shall be the end of me.
Beckoning me to obey its craving,
Even when I knew the reverse to be true.
I am blue.
Blue and black from the slap to my soul;
When I give in to urges,
Indulge in secret pleasures.
The sweetly sick scent that beckons
A poison clothed in royal robes.
The allure of the forbidden is my undoing.
I know right from wrong
Yet my wrongs seem so right.
In a spot a bit too tight,
I’m bursting at the seams of sanity.
Alas the weakness of humanity,
The pursuit of absolute vanity,
At the expense of pleasing the ultimate divinity.
Justifying and adding to the list of blasphemy
It’s a modern day tragedy,
How easily we desecrate this temple.
The only place we have to reside
Until death’s kneel beckons.
Sad that we choose to harken
To the voice that reason lacketh.
Tearing us into pieces,
Mere shells of the legends we could be.
Short-sighted by the thrill of immediate gratification
Enthralled by orgasmic consummation
Drunk by the bodily lusts.
Gifted with minds so intricate,
Yet we always imitate.
Rendering this precious resource obsolete
Light years from even using half of it.
We are made for so much more
Life has lots more in store.
All we have to do is knock,
And the door shall be open.
Seek and we shall find.
By default we follow the path most trod
but the wise know this one secret.
When the crowd says jump,
stand and be very sceptical,
When everyone is eager,
be most hesitant.
The chorus of the crowd,
Should not be your soundtrack.
The modern day hero
Is the regular Joe who chose to live anew
Listen to the whisper of truth
Dance to the rhythm of love
Switch to the path untrod.
The transition may take every inch of your will,
But the grass is definitely greener on the other side.
The songs are sweeter,
And the life is richer.
Switch to the right hue,
To the true colour of you.
